Aaron Salazar

Hi, I’m Aaron Salazar, a proud Mexican and Indigenous-American director and creative producer based in NYC. I’m the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of AKS Immersive—the home where my passion and directorial vision for storytelling and championing creative teams truly come alive.

With more than 20 years in theatre, immersive experiences, audio fiction, and luxury brand activations, I love crafting unique worlds where narratives and human performances shine. Right now, I’m especially excited about “Drama: An Aural Experience™—Season 1: Anthology,” an immersive audio fiction series I’m directing & producing with New York Times Best-Selling Author Jeffrey James Keyes. The project features a wonderful cast with the brilliant Tony-Award® Nominee L Morgan Lee and the accomplished Jason Veasey (A Strange Loop, Broadway, Only Murders In The Building, Hulu).

Since 2016, I’ve been dedicated to developing a creative framework for site-specific immersive theatre here in NYC, always aiming to cultivate vibrant, collaborative teams. Some highlights I’m especially proud of include “X The Experience” (written by Jason Veasey, starring Kim Exum and Cheech Manohar, with a nine-month international run), “BitterSweet,” and “The Cooping Theory 1969: Who Killed Edgar Allan Poe”—which was featured in The New York Times! I’ve also had the pleasure of directing sold-out runs of classics like “Antigone.”

Beyond the stage, I’ve brought immersive storytelling to the world of luxury brands, led exciting brand activations, and had the good fortune to work as a consultant with outstanding organizations like Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, Academy for Impact through Music, and Upturn Funds. Over the years, I’ve been honored to hire, cast, and collaborate with brilliant artists who have been the heart and soul of my work.

My journey continues to be inspired by the power of storytelling and the amazing artists I get to create with every day. Stay tuned for exciting updates heading your way for the 2026 season!
